NeetCode vs LeetCode (2026): Which One You Actually Need
NeetCode is a roadmap with videos; LeetCode is the problem bank. Pricing, what each paid plan adds, and where Thita fits at $69 lifetime.

Practise the NeetCode 150 by pattern
They are not really competitors. NeetCode is a curated roadmap with video explanations; LeetCode is the problem bank and the judge. NeetCode tells you what to solve and in what order, and explains the idea. LeetCode holds the problems, runs your code and, on Premium, tells you which companies ask what. Most people use both, and the free tier of each gets you a long way. There is a third option that bundles the roadmap, the runner and the speaking practice in one place: Thita, covered below.
Thita.ai makes an AI mock interview product, so we're a competitor; every price and claim below links to its source. Competitor facts come from the vendors' public pages, pricing and published user discussions (Reddit, Blind and similar), checked in October 2026.

The LeetCode figures are quoted from PracHub's October 2026 summary of that page, so confirm them on the live page before you buy. NeetCode's page shows two numbers per plan without labelling which is current, so we quote the lower one as the price and mention the other.
What NeetCode is
NeetCode started as a YouTube channel that explains LeetCode problems, and grew into a site with a curated problem roadmap, courses and a browser-based practice area. The lists most people mean when they say "NeetCode" are the NeetCode 150 and the NeetCode 250. Both are nested: every Blind 75 problem is in the NeetCode 150, and every NeetCode 150 problem is in the NeetCode 250. Those counts and topic splits are in our NeetCode 150 vs NeetCode 250 vs Blind 75 guide.
The value is curation. Instead of facing roughly 3,000 problems, you get an ordered list grouped by topic, with an explanation for each. The NeetCode Pro page lists these features:
- video courses on data structures, algorithms and system design;
- browser-based practice problems with a built-in code editor;
- written guides and solutions in 8 languages;
- an AI assistant ("NeetBot"), AI hints and debugging;
- company-tagged problems;
- cloud sync across devices;
- access to a private Discord and future content.
The page does not say which of these are free and which are Pro-only, so check the free tier on the site before deciding what you are paying for. An Educative review of NeetCode Pro describes Pro as adding problem sets not available for free, complexity write-ups, progress tracking and company-specific questions. That is the reviewer's description, not NeetCode's, and Educative sells competing courses.
What LeetCode is
LeetCode is where the problems live and where most online assessments and interview-prep lists point. The free tier covers non-premium questions and articles, standard judging, ranked contests and the Discuss forum. Premium, per the PracHub summary of LeetCode's subscribe page, adds:
- company-tagged questions, "sortable by role, time or frequency";
- premium-only questions, Explore cards and official solutions;
- Interview Simulations, a debugger, autocomplete, cloud-saved code and unlimited Playgrounds;
- a faster judge ("Lightning", which LeetCode says is up to 10x faster at peak hours);
- 500 extra monthly "Ask Leet" AI credits.
LeetCode is a problem bank, not a curriculum. It will not tell you that you should learn sliding window before dynamic programming. That is the gap NeetCode fills.
What Thita offers for DSA prep
Thita puts the roadmap, the problems, the explanations and the interview practice in one product, so you learn, practise and get tested together instead of stitching three sites. For DSA specifically:
- 99 patterns in 16 families. The DSA patterns learning path teaches by pattern, so you learn sliding window before dynamic programming and see why each pattern applies.
- 410 DSA problems with an in-browser runner in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go and C#. That is part of 850+ problems across the platform.
- Free sheets organised by pattern. The NeetCode 150, NeetCode 250 and Blind 75 sheets let you work a known list grouped by pattern, running your code on the page. Thita is not affiliated with NeetCode.
- An AI Coach anchored to your code. It comments on the lines you wrote while you learn and practise, not on a generic answer.
- An AI mock interview that runs your code. A voice AI interviewer compiles your solution against hidden test cases in six languages during the conversation, then asks follow-ups on what happened. Most AI interview tools only grade what you say. Every session ends with a scored report that names the one thing to fix next.
- More than DSA when you need it. The same product covers system design (an AI that reads your whiteboard), low-level design, behavioural, resume-based and company-style loops.
- Try before you commit. A free 3-question mock needs no sign-up and takes about 10 minutes. Over 81,000 code submissions have been run on the platform, and 30,000+ engineers use Thita.
Best for: people who want a pattern-based path, a runner and speaking practice under one subscription, and unlimited-feeling AI reps. If you also want a human engineer's read on your interview, pair it with one paid human mock.

The price structures are different enough that a direct comparison is awkward. LeetCode Premium is a subscription you can start for a month, which suits a short sprint. NeetCode Pro is sold as a year or as a one-time lifetime payment, which suits a longer plan. Thita offers both shapes: a monthly or yearly Pro plan and a one-time Lifetime. The NeetCode pricing page we read lists no monthly option, so we cannot say what a short NeetCode subscription would cost.
One caution on company tags. On any site, a company tag means a user reported the problem, not that the company will ask it. Treat tags as a signal for topic emphasis. Thita's company-wise kit is meant for the same purpose, with the same caveat.
Is NeetCode Pro worth it?
It depends on what is already slowing you down.
It tends to be worth it if you are a learner who needs the explanation, not just the answer. If you keep staring at a Medium for an hour, reading a solution and forgetting it, the video explanation, the ordering and the guides are the product. People also mention the system design material as a reason to buy.
It tends not to be worth it if you already know your patterns and just need volume, or if you will mostly use the free videos and the free list. Several of the sources we found say the free NeetCode content covers much of what people need, and the free lists are public.
User discussion is split, which is the honest summary:
- On Blind, in the thread "neetcode premium worth it", commenters had no clear winner. One regular user said the lifetime option is good value; another said it was not worth it at all; one asked whether paying for system design content from someone early in their career made sense. Others said they would not pay for either NeetCode or LeetCode and suggested free practice with a partner.
Complaints that come up in reviews include: little or no system design depth by some reviewers' standards, no built-in mock interview or pairing tool, a lightweight practice workspace, and refund terms that are not prominent (Educative). Praise centres on clear, to-the-point videos and on a structured path that removes the "what do I solve next" decision.
A reasonable rule: use the free NeetCode material for two weeks. If the free lists and videos are doing the job, you do not need Pro yet. If you keep hitting paywalled material you actually want, buy it.
Is LeetCode Premium worth it?
Premium makes most sense when you know the company. Company tags sorted by frequency and recency are the main reason people pay, plus access to premium-only problems and official solutions. If you are a general learner with no target company, the free tier has plenty of problems, and Premium's headline feature does less for you.
Complaints are mostly about price against what you use: it auto-renews, and fees are not refundable or prorated (PracHub summary of the terms). If you buy, buy for the month or two you will really use it, and turn off renewal.
Is NeetCode enough for FAANG?
For the coding rounds, a curated list gets you the patterns, but it does not by itself prepare you to explain a solution out loud, handle follow-ups or recover when code fails. We cover that question in full in Is NeetCode 150 enough for FAANG? and the list-by-list trade-offs in NeetCode 150 vs Blind 75. The short version: Blind 75 for under four weeks, NeetCode 150 for one to two months, NeetCode 250 for three months or more, plus separate preparation for system design and behavioural rounds.
For a wider view of the field, see Blind 75 vs NeetCode vs pattern-based preparation.
Who should use what
Use NeetCode (free first) if you are early in preparation, learn best from walkthroughs and want an order to follow.
Use Thita if you want the order, the runner and the speaking practice in one place: a pattern path, free NeetCode 150, NeetCode 250 and Blind 75 sheets, and an AI mock interview that runs your code and asks follow-ups. It is also the most direct way to train explaining a solution aloud.
Use LeetCode if you need volume, contests or an assessment-style judge, or you have a target company and want its tagged problems (Premium).
Use a combination if you want NeetCode's videos and LeetCode's judge plus interview practice. A common setup is NeetCode or a Thita sheet for the order, LeetCode for volume, and a weekly Thita mock for speaking.
Skip paying for NeetCode or LeetCode, for now, if you have not yet used their free tiers for a couple of weeks.
Neither NeetCode nor LeetCode covers speaking. Reading an explanation or passing tests does not train you to talk through a solution while someone waits. That is a separate skill, and it is where most of the remaining gap sits for people who have finished a list. It is what Thita's AI mock interview is built for.

If you want videos, NeetCode remains the video-first source; Thita's DSA patterns path is the lesson-first equivalent organised by pattern.

A practical way to combine them
- Pick the list by time left: Blind 75, NeetCode 150 or NeetCode 250, as above.
- Learn from NeetCode's free explanations or Thita's pattern lessons when you are stuck, not before you have tried the problem.
- Solve on LeetCode or on a pattern sheet, in your interview language. The NeetCode 150 sheet on Thita groups the list by pattern and runs your code in the browser.
- Use company tags only as a topic signal if you do pay for Premium.
- Once a week, talk through a solved problem out loud and run it. A Thita AI coding interview does this on demand: it asks follow-ups and checks your code against real test cases. The free version takes about ten minutes.
Frequently asked questions (checked October 2026)
Is NeetCode better than LeetCode? They do different jobs. NeetCode is a curated roadmap with explanations; LeetCode is the problem bank, judge and, on Premium, company-tag source. Most people use both.
Is NeetCode Pro worth it? It is worth it if you need structured explanations and will use the courses and guides. It is less compelling if the free lists and videos already work for you. Commenters on Blind are split. See the section above for sources.
How much does NeetCode Pro cost? The NeetCode Pro page shows $119 for one year of access and $297 for lifetime, each with a higher figure shown beside it, and lists no monthly plan. Check the page for the current price.
How much does LeetCode Premium cost? A third-party page that read LeetCode's subscribe page on 14 October 2026 reports $35 a month or $159 a year. We could not load leetcode.com/subscribe directly, so confirm it there.
What does Thita cost compared with NeetCode and LeetCode? Thita Pro is $14.99 a month or $75 a year, and Thita Lifetime is $69 one-time. The NeetCode and LeetCode one-year prices above are $119 and $159. The pattern sheets and a free 3-question mock cost nothing. See pricing.
Is NeetCode enough for FAANG? Not alone. It covers coding patterns well; you still need system design, behavioural preparation and practice explaining aloud. Details are in our dedicated post.
Can I use NeetCode without LeetCode? Yes. NeetCode has its own browser practice area. Many people still solve on LeetCode because that is where assessments and company tags live.
The short answer
Start free on all three. Pay for NeetCode Pro if the thing you lack is video explanation and order; pay for LeetCode Premium for a month or two if the thing you lack is company targeting; choose Thita Lifetime at $69 or Pro at $75 a year if you want the path, the runner and the interview practice together. Then do the part neither list provides: speak through your solution under follow-up questions. Thita's free 3-question AI mock needs no sign-up and is the quickest way to find out whether that is your weak spot.
