Is Hello Interview Premium Worth It? (2026 Review and Alternatives)
Hello Interview Premium pricing in USD, what is free, what Reddit says, and alternatives. Human mocks ended May 2026; see who should still pay.

Hello Interview Premium is worth it for a fairly specific person: a mid-level to staff engineer who has already read the free system design guides and wants structured, AI-graded whiteboard practice. If you have not read the free material yet, do that first, because it is the best-regarded part of the site and it costs nothing. If you want human mock interviewers, note that Hello Interview ended its human mocks and mentorship on May 31, 2026, so Premium is now an AI-only product.
Thita.ai makes an AI mock interview product, so we're a competitor; every price and claim below links to its source. This review is based on Hello Interview's public pages, pricing and published user reviews (Reddit, the Hello Interview community and third-party reviews), checked in October 2026.
Hello Interview Premium at a glance (checked October 2026)
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| What is free? | The "System Design in a Hurry" guide and many question breakdowns are open; premium pages carry a lock icon. Hello Interview says premium material is "in no way required" for that course. |
| What does Premium cost? | A third-party review dated 14 October 2026 lists $47 for 1 month, $95 for 1 year and $319 for lifetime (list prices $59, $119, $399). |
| Does it auto-renew? | The same review says the monthly and yearly plans do not. Confirm at checkout. |
| What do you get? | 43 premium videos, 66 Guided Practice problems, 5,000+ candidate-reported questions and an AI tutor, per the pricing page. |
| AI mock interviews? | Yes. "Live Practice" is a voiced AI interviewer on a whiteboard. The month plan includes 1, the year plan 2, the lifetime plan 10. Extra credits are sold separately. |
| Human mock interviews? | No longer. The mocks page says the human mock and mentorship programs wound down on May 31, 2026. |
| Free trial? | Hello Interview's checkout page says there is no free trial for Premium. One Guided Practice problem is free, according to a third-party review. |
| Refunds? | A third-party review says Premium fees are non-refundable and refunds are at Hello Interview's discretion. Read the official FAQ before buying. |

What Hello Interview is and what you get
Hello Interview started as a system design prep site. Its free course, System Design in a Hurry, walks through how to prepare, a delivery framework, core concepts (networking, API design, data modeling, caching, sharding, consistent hashing, CAP, indexing), key technologies (Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB and others) and common patterns. It also has roughly 25 question breakdowns, such as Bitly, Dropbox, Uber, Ticketmaster and a rate limiter. Some pages, for example the Instagram and Flash Sale breakdowns and a few technology deep dives, are locked.
Premium adds, per the pricing page:
- 43 premium videos across System Design, low-level design, coding, AI coding and behavioral courses
- 66 Guided Practice problems (step-by-step whiteboard exercises with AI feedback)
- 5,000+ candidate-reported interview questions
- An AI tutor that answers questions while you study
- Live Practice interviews, with the number depending on the plan
A third-party review lists the practice breakdown as 34 system design problems, 8 low-level design problems, 12 AI-enabled coding problems and a behavioral track, and notes that no coding judge or SQL practice is listed. That matters: Hello Interview is a system design and design-adjacent product, not a general LeetCode replacement.
Live Practice, the AI mock
Live Practice is Hello Interview's AI mock system design interview. You pick an interviewer (Tim, Maya or Alex), set a target level, choose a problem, and talk through a design on a shared whiteboard. The AI listens, reads your board and asks follow-ups. The report gives a hire or no-hire call for your target level, ratings for problem navigation, solution design, technical excellence and communication, and a replay with board, transcript and audio synced.
Each interview is 35 minutes. Extra credits are sold in bundles with a money-back guarantee on credit purchases. USD price not published; check their pricing page.
The human mocks are gone
Older Reddit threads and blog posts still mention mocks with FAANG-level coaches. The mocks page now says those programs ended on May 31, 2026, that earlier session notes remain in your account, and that anyone who believes they are owed a refund should email support. If a review you are reading praises the human mocks, it is describing a product that no longer exists.
Pricing: what Premium costs in 2026
A PracHub review dated 14 October 2026 lists Premium at $47 for 1 month, $95 for 1 year and $319 for lifetime (list $59, $119, $399) and says sale prices change. The official pricing page is the one to trust on the day you buy.
Two practical points from the sources:
- A month plus an upgrade can cost more than buying the year outright, according to the PracHub review. If you know you need more than a few weeks, price the year.
- Lifetime is "as long as the service lasts." The same review notes lifetime access lasts only as long as Premium does. That is true of any lifetime plan, but it is worth saying before you pay for one.
Hello Interview discount code
We are not listing a code. The pricing page showed a promotional banner whose percentage failed to render for us, and the FAQ page we fetched lists "Do you offer any discounts?" as a question without showing the answer. The reliable route is the official pricing page and the FAQ, where the live sale price is already applied. Be wary of "code" sites. Also do not buy or sell shared logins: the PracHub review says shared logins can lead to account termination without a refund.
What users praise about Hello Interview
Sentiment below is attributed to the sources we could open. Reddit coverage is thin and mostly from early 2025 through spring 2026, so treat it as anecdote.
- The free content. The PracHub review calls the free course "substantive and readable without paying," and lists level guides for Meta, Amazon, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Airbnb and Microsoft as a plus.
- Guided Practice. A January 2025 r/leetcode thread, "Is Hello Interview Premium worth it?", had commenters saying it was worth it for experienced developers and that the practice section was the valuable part; one credited it with helping them pass a Meta system design round. We could not reopen that mirror to re-verify the wording, so this summary comes from search results for the thread.
- AI feedback. A search result for an April 2026 r/leetcode thread has a commenter saying Premium was worth it and the AI feedback was good, and that mocks help if you lack system design interview experience.
- No auto-renewal. The PracHub review lists non-renewing monthly and yearly plans as a pro.
What users complain about
- Content freshness. A post in the Hello Interview community says: "I think I wasted my money buying premium," that the material "looks old" and that there had not been many updates since February 2026. That is one post with no visible replies, not a consensus.
- Narrow scope. PracHub notes there is no coding judge or SQL practice, and a question library whose stated size varies from 5,000+ to 13,000+ across pages.
- Lenient bar. The same review quotes one Blind reply calling the practice bar "pretty lenient." Treat a hire or no-hire verdict from any AI as a signal, not a guarantee.
- Refund terms. Fees are described as non-refundable except at Hello Interview's discretion, and there is no free Premium trial.
- Data. PracHub points out that AI features send your responses to third-party AI providers. That is common to AI practice tools, and worth reading in the privacy policy.
- No published outcomes. Hello Interview does not publish placement or salary results, which is the norm for this category and a reason to be skeptical of any "got the offer" claims, including ours.
Is Hello Interview worth it? Who should pay and who should skip
Pay for Premium if:
- You are mid-level, senior or staff and system design or low-level design is your gap.
- You have read the free guide and learn best by doing structured, step-by-step practice.
- You want an AI whiteboard interviewer with a replay and a level-based verdict, and can live with AI-only mocks.
- You are buying the plan whose length matches your interview date.
Skip it, or start free, if:
- You have not touched the free System Design in a Hurry guide. It stands alone.
- Your interviews are mostly coding rounds. Hello Interview is not built around code execution or a large DSA bank.
- You want a human coach now. Those programs ended; see the alternatives.
- You are a new grad. System design rounds are uncommon for junior roles; practice DSA and behavioral first.

Hello Interview vs ByteByteGo
We could not find a direct head-to-head from a neutral source, and several comparison posts are written by competitors, so we will not invent one. What the vendors' own pages show: ByteByteGo sells a broader course catalog (system design, OOD, ML and GenAI system design, coding patterns, behavioral) with an AI assistant trained on its books. Hello Interview's strength is the free guide plus AI whiteboard practice. If you learn from diagrams and want breadth, ByteByteGo fits; if you want to practice out loud with feedback, Hello Interview's Live Practice is closer to that.
Hello Interview vs Exponent (Aced)
Exponent has rebranded as Aced and runs the former Pramp peer mocks; see our Pramp and Aced explainer. Aced offers peer mocks, AI-graded practice and coaching with senior tech coaches, but publishes no prices on the page we fetched. Since Hello Interview's human mocks ended, Aced and interviewing.io are the two options here that still offer human practice. For more on how Aced works, see our Exponent and Aced review.

What Thita offers for system design and coding interview prep
Thita is built so you learn, practise and get tested in one place. The part most AI interview tools skip: in an AI mock interview, your code is compiled and run against hidden tests in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go and C# during the voice interview, and the interviewer asks follow-ups on what actually happened. Most tools only grade what you say.
- The System Design path. 12 families, 73 lessons and 26 case studies, from core building blocks to full designs.
- The LLD path. 12 families and 46 lessons for low-level design and machine coding rounds.
- System design and LLD sheets. The system design sheet and LLD sheet give you a problem list to work through alongside the lessons.
- AI system design mock interviews. A voice interviewer with adaptive follow-ups, on a whiteboard the AI reads, and a scored report that names the one thing to fix next.
- Coding rounds with executed code. 410 DSA problems and 850+ problems in total, with an in-browser runner; 81,000+ code submissions have been run on the platform. Behavioural, resume-based and company-style loops are in the same product.
- An AI Coach anchored to each line of your code while you learn and practise.
- Try it first. A free 3-question mock (one coding problem, one behavioural, one system design) takes about 10 minutes and needs no sign-up. Used by 30,000+ engineers.
Best if you want frequent AI reps across coding and design; pair it with one paid human mock if you want a FAANG engineer's read.
Cost comparison, in USD
| Plan | Price | How it compares |
|---|---|---|
| Hello Interview Premium, 1 year | $95 | Thita Pro is $75/year, about 79% of that, with 15 AI interviews a month |
| Hello Interview Premium, lifetime | $319 | Thita Lifetime is $69 once, about 22% of that |
| DesignGurus lifetime, all courses | $1,198 | Thita Lifetime is about 6% of that |
| Thita Lifetime | $69 one-time (about $59 with code THITA15, before tax) | Lifetime access to all 11 learning paths, all 8 pattern sheets, both 90-day roadmaps, plus 32 AI credits granted once |
Pro includes all core paths plus any 2 more (for example System Design and LLD); Elite ($29.99/month or $120/year) gives 30 AI interviews a month and all 11 learning paths. Hello Interview's lifetime plan includes 10 Live Practice interviews, so compare what each includes, not just the sticker price. See Thita pricing.
A sensible order if you are on a budget
- Read the free System Design in a Hurry guide end to end.
- Do the one free Guided Practice problem, or a free mock, to find out whether AI whiteboard practice suits you.
- Run a system design mock interview on Thita (free to start) or the free interviewing.io AI interviewer to compare how different tools probe your design.
- Only then buy the shortest Premium plan that covers your interview date.
- Book one human mock near the end for a calibrated opinion.
Frequently asked questions (checked October 2026)
Is Hello Interview Premium worth it? For senior-leaning candidates who need structured system design or LLD practice, many reviewers say yes. For coding-heavy prep, new grads, or anyone who has not used the free guide, it is probably not the first thing to buy.
Is Hello Interview worth it if I only use the free content? Yes, in the sense that the free System Design in a Hurry guide is widely praised and needs no payment. Premium locks some breakdowns, the Guided Practice set, the question library and most videos.
How much does Hello Interview Premium cost? A third-party review dated 14 October 2026 lists $47 for a month, $95 for a year and $319 for lifetime, as one-time payments. Sale prices change, so check hellointerview.com/pricing.
Is there a Hello Interview discount code? We do not list codes. The official pricing page applies any live sale automatically, and the FAQ is where discount policy is stated. Avoid third-party code sites and shared accounts.
What does Reddit say about Hello Interview? Threads we found in r/leetcode are mostly positive, especially from experienced engineers, citing the practice section and AI feedback. Complaints include dated content and no free trial. Coverage is limited, so read current threads yourself before you buy. Hello Interview also hosts its own community discussion.
Does Hello Interview still offer human mock interviews? No. The company's mocks page says its human mock interview and mentorship programs ended on May 31, 2026.
Is Hello Interview better than ByteByteGo or Exponent? They solve different problems: ByteByteGo is a visual course library, Aced is peer mocks plus coaching, and Hello Interview is a free guide plus AI whiteboard practice. Thita combines learning paths, sheets and AI mocks, including executed code. Pick by how you learn, not by a single winner.
The short version
Hello Interview's free written content is excellent, and that alone is a reason to visit. Premium is a reasonable buy for experienced engineers who want structured AI-graded design practice and accept that humans are no longer part of it. Everyone else should start free, compare one or two alternatives, and buy the shortest plan that fits their interview date. If coding rounds are also on your list, try an AI coding interview that runs your code, and use the System Design path for lessons and a sheet in one place. Thita Lifetime at $69 covers all of it for less than a year of Hello Interview Premium.
