Best AI Mock Interview Tools (2026): 10 AI Interview Prep Platforms Compared
Best AI mock interview tools (2026): 10 compared on code execution, system design, voice and price in USD. Only Thita runs your code by voice.

The best AI mock interview tool depends on the round you are preparing for. For coding and DSA rounds, pick a tool whose AI interviewer actually executes your code. For system design, pick one with a whiteboard the interviewer reads and questions. For behavioural answers and delivery, a speech-focused tool is enough. For software engineers, the shortest list is HackerRank's AI mock interviews, Thita.ai, DevInterview.AI and Hello Interview Live. Thita is the only tool here that compiles and runs your code during a voice interview, then asks follow-ups on what happened. If you want free practice, start with Thita's no-sign-up mock, Huru and Aced's free peer mocks.
This guide compares ten tools on five tests and says where each is the wrong choice.
Thita.ai makes an AI mock interview product, so we're a competitor. Competitor facts come from each vendor's public pages and pricing, checked in October 2026, and every price links to its source. All prices are in USD and change often, so check the vendor page before you pay.
The short answer
| If you are preparing for... | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Coding / DSA rounds | An AI interviewer that runs your code: HackerRank AI mock interviews, Thita.ai (by voice, 6 languages), DevInterview.AI | Feedback reacts to what your code does, not to what you say it does |
| System design | Hello Interview Live, or an AI interviewer with a canvas (Thita.ai, DevInterview.AI, HackerRank) | Design is judged on follow-ups, so you need something that asks them |
| Coding + design + behavioural in one place | Thita.ai | Voice across every round, code run against hidden tests, one history of scored reports |
| Behavioural answers, any role | Huru, Yoodli, interviewsby.ai | Built around spoken answers and delivery, not technical content |
| Calibration before a final loop | One or two human mocks (interviewing.io, Aced coaches) | A human interviewer is still the closest thing to the real bar |
| Spending nothing | Thita's free no-sign-up mock, Huru, Aced free peer mocks | Try before paying for anything |
For a wider list that includes human platforms, see best mock interview platforms for software engineers.
How we compared the tools
We used five tests. Each is something you can check yourself in a free session.
- Does it run your code? An interviewer that only reads code can accept a solution that fails on an empty array. See does your AI mock interview actually run your code?.
- Does it cover system design properly? That means a whiteboard, follow-up questions about failure modes and scale, and feedback on trade-offs rather than a component checklist.
- Is it spoken? Real rounds are spoken.
- Is the feedback usable? A good report names what you missed and what to change next time, and is kept so you can compare attempts.
- What does regular practice cost? We looked at the free tier, the lowest paid price and what it includes.
We left out real-time "interview copilots", which listen to a live interview and feed you answers. They do not build the skill you are tested on, and many employers treat their use as cheating. See AI pair programming practice vs cheating tools.

The tools, reviewed
1. HackerRank AI mock interviews: timed rounds close to an online assessment
Best for: candidates whose process starts on HackerRank.
HackerRank's mock interview page lists timed, AI-driven sessions: Technical Screen (30 min), Coding (60), System Design (60), AI Fluency (30), Behavioral (30), Frontend React (60) and Backend Node (60). Questions are described as modeled on those asked at top-tier companies, you can follow up with the virtual interviewer about your feedback, and feedback covers approach, code and communication. The page does not list pricing or free attempts, so check inside the product. For how HackerRank compares with LeetCode, see LeetCode vs HackerRank.
2. Thita.ai: the only tool here that runs your code during a voice interview
Best for: engineers who want coding, system design, low-level design and behavioural practice in one product, with voice throughout. Best if you want unlimited-feeling AI reps; pair with one paid human mock if you want a FAANG engineer's read.
Most AI interview tools grade what you say. Thita's AI mock interview also grades what your code does. Your solution is compiled and run against hidden test cases in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go and C# while you talk to a voice interviewer, and the follow-up questions are about the result: the failing input, the complexity you claimed, the edge case you skipped.
What you get in one product:
- Coding/DSA rounds with real execution and adaptive follow-ups.
- System design on a whiteboard the AI reads, with questions on scale, failure modes and trade-offs.
- Low-level design, behavioural and resume-based rounds, plus company-style interview loops backed by a company-wise kit covering 160 companies with interview data.
- A scored report after every session that names the one thing to fix next.
- Learning paths, sheets and mocks together: DSA patterns (99 patterns in 16 families), system design, low-level design, 410 DSA problems and 850+ problems in total with an in-browser runner, and an AI Coach anchored to each line of your code. You learn, practise and get tested in one place.
- A free AI mock interview with no sign-up: one executed coding problem, one behavioural and one system design question, about 10 minutes.
Price (USD): Starter is free (2 AI interviews in the first week, then 1 a month, plus the DSA Fundamentals, Data Science and AI/ML paths). Pro is $14.99/month or $75/year: 15 AI interviews a month, all core paths plus any two more, and both 90-day roadmaps. Elite is $29.99/month or $120/year: 30 AI interviews a month and all 11 learning paths. Thita Lifetime is $69 once (about $59 with code THITA15, before tax): all 11 paths, all sheets and both roadmaps, plus 32 AI credits. See the pricing page. Thita is used by 30,000+ engineers.
3. DevInterview.AI: a voice AI interviewer for engineers
Best for: a second AI interviewer with a similar feature set to Thita's.
Per its own pages, it offers live voice interviews, an editor with execution in seven languages, a system design whiteboard, STAR-style behavioural rounds, and a scored report with a hire verdict and comparison to your previous session. The pricing page lists $19.99 monthly, $49.99 per quarter ($16.66/mo) and $99.99 a year ($8.33/mo, includes a free 1:1 call). There is no ongoing free plan; the first interview is free with no card. Its yearly plan is $99.99; Thita Pro is $75 a year and states 15 AI interviews a month, so compare what each plan includes.
4. Hello Interview Live: AI system design mocks
Best for: mid-level and senior candidates whose loop turns on system design.
Hello Interview Live is an AI mock system design interview. You pick an interviewer and target level, talk through your design on a shared whiteboard for 35 minutes, and get a hire or no-hire call with confidence level, specific fixes and ratings for problem navigation, solution design, technical excellence and communication. The page says the AI is calibrated against 10,000+ human-led mocks; that is the vendor's claim. It does not run code. The pricing page lists single interviews, packs of 3 and 6, and Premium (1 month, 1 year or lifetime) bundling 1, 2 or 10 live interviews plus videos, guided practice and an AI tutor. USD price not published; check their pricing page. For more, see system design prep platforms compared and Hello Interview Premium review.
5. interviewing.io: human mocks plus a free AI interviewer
Best for: calibration with experienced engineers.
interviewing.io is known for mock interviews with engineers and coaching in 3, 5 or 10 session packs; the page does not list those prices. It also has an AI interviewer that runs coding and system design interviews "in the style of a FAANG mock interview", with over 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview listed as free. The page does not say whether the AI interviewer is always free, so confirm it. See Thita vs interviewing.io and the interviewing.io review.
6. Aced (formerly Exponent): peer mocks, AI feedback and coaches
Best for: practising with another person at no cost.
Exponent is now Aced. Its practice page describes live peer mocks of about an hour (30 minutes each, roles swapped), matched by availability and experience, with a shared editor for coding. AI feedback on peer mocks is described as early access, and AI practice on your own is described too; the page says free users get monthly credits, but the FAQ says AI feedback and transcripts are for paid members. Plans and prices were not on the pages we could fetch, so we do not quote any. See Exponent and Aced review and Pramp vs an AI interviewer that runs your code.
7. Huru: free spoken practice for behavioural rounds
Best for: free, unlimited behavioural and role-based practice.
Huru runs a live AI interviewer (three interviewers, adjustable pressure, 5 to 20 minutes, audio or video) or question-by-question practice for 242+ roles. It scores answers out of 100 on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation, and gives speaking stats such as pace and filler words. The page says job seekers get unlimited mock interviews and full reports free, with a paid Enterprise plan for organisations. It is a general interview tool: it does not describe code execution or a design whiteboard, so pair it with a technical tool.
8. Yoodli: speech and delivery coaching
Best for: filler words, pacing and nerves.
Yoodli's pricing: Starter is free with 5 lifetime sessions. Pro is $8/month billed annually (up to 10 roleplays a week) and Advanced is $20/month billed annually (unlimited roleplays). It scores how you speak, not whether your algorithm is right.
9. interviewsby.ai: question practice from a job description
Best for: cheap, quick behavioural reps.
interviewsby.ai generates questions from a pasted job description, lets you answer by audio or text under a timer, and scores structure, specificity, delivery and filler words. Free is 3 questions a month; Pro is $9/month.
10. Mocklingo: low-cost voice mocks
Best for: students and freshers who want inexpensive voice practice.
Mocklingo offers voice mocks tailored from a resume, job description or role, with scored feedback and example answers. The pricing page lists 2 free interviews of up to 5 minutes, a 5-interview pack and a 20-session pack; we could not source USD prices, so check the page. Its ratings are the vendor's own and unverified. The page does not say it runs code.
Final Round AI: mostly a live copilot
Final Round AI is best known for its live Interview CoPilot. Its pricing page lists a free plan with goals and job-description parsing, and Pro at $25+/month, which includes unlimited CoPilot sessions, practice interviews and AI debriefs; practice is not on the free plan and there is no free trial. The page does not give an annual price. Copilot use in a live interview can breach an employer's rules, so we do not rank it. See the Final Round AI review, Final Round AI alternatives and AI-allowed coding interview rounds.
Google Interview Warmup
Older lists still recommend it. We found no official Google announcement, but competitor sources report it retired, so we do not list it.
Price comparison (USD)

| Final Round AI | Free plan, no practice | Pro $25+/mo | Copilot sessions, practice interviews, AI debriefs |
| interviewsby.ai | 3 questions/month | $9/mo | Question practice, no code or design |
| Yoodli | 5 lifetime sessions | $8/mo billed annually; $20/mo Advanced | Delivery coaching |
| Hello Interview Live | Free content only | USD price not published; check their pricing page | AI system design mock |
| Mocklingo | 2 short interviews | USD price not published; check their pricing page | Voice mocks |
Thita's cost, in context. Pro at $14.99/month gives 15 AI interviews, about $1 per interview, against Final Round AI Pro at $25+/month. Pro at $75/year works out to about $6.25 a month. Thita Lifetime is $69 once, which is less than a year of Final Round AI Pro at its $25 starting price. The cheapest technical options on this evidence are DevInterview.AI's yearly plan and Thita Pro; Huru is the cheapest for behavioural work. A paid human session is best saved for the last week. See is paying for an AI mock interview worth it?.
AI vs human mock interviews
AI interviewers give volume: a session at midnight, the same pattern three times a week. Humans give calibration against a company's bar. A sensible split is several AI mocks a week, then one or two human mocks. See AI vs human mock interviews: which one improves faster and how realistic is an AI mock interview?.
How to choose in 15 minutes
- Write down your rounds and pick by your weakest one.
- Run one free session on two tools; for coding, submit a solution with a deliberate bug and see whether the tool catches it.
- Read the report. If it names nothing specific to fix, move on.
- Commit for a month, then add one human mock.
FAQ
What are the best AI mock interview tools in 2026?
For software engineers, the strongest options on our five tests are HackerRank's AI mock interviews, Thita.ai and DevInterview.AI for coding, and Hello Interview Live for system design. Thita.ai is the only one that runs your code during a voice interview. For behavioural practice, Huru and Yoodli. Pair one AI tool with one or two human mocks.
What is the best free AI mock interview?
For technical rounds, Thita's free AI mock interview needs no sign-up, takes about 10 minutes and includes one executed coding problem, one behavioural and one system design question. Huru lists unlimited free mock interviews for job seekers, but it is not built for code. DevInterview.AI gives one free interview, and Aced offers free peer mocks with monthly credits.
What is the best AI mock interview for software engineers?
Choose one that runs your code and has a design whiteboard: HackerRank's coding and system design mocks, Thita.ai (voice, hidden tests in 6 languages, a whiteboard the AI reads) or DevInterview.AI. Add Hello Interview Live if system design decides your loop. Pair with the DSA patterns sheet.
Which AI tool is best for system design interviews?
Hello Interview Live is a dedicated AI system design mock with a hire or no-hire report. Thita.ai and DevInterview.AI also offer spoken design rounds with a canvas. Our system design AI mock interview guide explains how to run them.
Are AI mock interviews worth paying for?
Free tiers are enough to test the format. Paid plans pay off when you practise several times a week and compare reports.
Can an AI interviewer replace a human mock interview?
Not completely. AI is better for volume and availability; a human is better for calibrating against a specific company. Most candidates benefit from many AI mocks and one or two human ones.
Is using AI in an interview cheating?
Using an AI copilot during a live interview without permission usually breaks the rules. Practising with an AI interviewer beforehand does not. Some companies now run rounds where AI is explicitly allowed; see AI-allowed coding interview rounds.
