Exponent (Now Aced) Review (2026): Pricing, AI Mocks and Alternatives
Exponent is now Aced. Plans and prices, what peer and AI mocks include, user sentiment, and how Thita compares at $75/yr or $69 lifetime.

Exponent still exists, but it is now called Aced, and tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io. The product is the same family of things: courses, a question bank, free peer mock interviews, paid coaching, and a new AI layer on the top plan. Whether it is worth paying for depends mostly on your role. It is strongest for product management and other non-coding interviews, and thinner for pure DSA.
This review is based on the vendor's public pages, pricing and published user reviews (Trustpilot, Course Report and community discussions), checked in October 2026. Thita.ai makes an AI mock interview product, so we're a competitor; every price and claim below links to its source.
Exponent (Aced) at a glance (checked October 2026)
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| Is Exponent still around? | It's now Aced. tryexponent.com returns a 301 redirect to aced.io, and the rebrand post says "Exponent is now Aced." |
| What else is under the Aced name? | "A family of brands that includes InterviewCake, Pramp, Resumes.fyi, APM List, and more." |
| What is new? | An AI coach called Ace, and an Expert plan that "includes access to Ace and all of our AI-powered practice tools." |
| Is there a free tier? | Yes. Aced says its mock interview practice tool is free to use, with monthly credits for free users. A third-party review lists the free plan as sample lessons plus 5 peer mocks a month (see pricing below). |
| Membership price? | Per third-party pricing guides: Pro $79/month or $149/year; Expert $99/month or $249/year. We could not load aced.io's own pricing page, so confirm before paying. |
| Coaching? | Sold separately, 60-minute sessions with senior coaches. Third-party listing: $249 for one session. |
| Does it run your code? | Peer mocks for coding include a shared editor. Aced does not describe an AI interviewer that executes your code. Thita's AI mock interview compiles and runs it in 6 languages during a voice round. |

What happened to Exponent? The Aced rebrand explained
If you search "exponent review" you will find pages from several years, and the name changed in between. In short:
- Exponent was the interview prep company behind tryexponent.com. It sold courses, a question bank, coaching and peer mocks, mostly aimed at product management, then software engineering, data science and other roles.
- It acquired Pramp and said "Pramp is first and foremost a free platform—and we're committed to keeping it that way." Our post on what Pramp is now covers that history in more detail.
- The company has since renamed itself Aced. A third-party pricing guide dates the rebrand post to 17 August 2026. The post introduces Ace, "a new AI coach built into Aced," and the Expert plan.
What you get with Exponent (Aced)
Courses and question bank
Aced sells structured courses by role and a searchable bank of interview questions. A PracHub write-up, which is a competitor's view, summarises the content as structured courses, role coverage beyond engineering, company-specific prep and integrated behavioural material. Course Report lists a one-week Technical Interview Preparation course at $144 and notes full refunds within 5 days of purchase (Course Report).
Peer mock interviews (the part most people like)
Aced Practice runs live one-on-one video mocks with another candidate. Sessions run about an hour, with roughly 30 minutes per role, and "everyone takes turns as both the interviewee and interviewer." Coding formats include a shared code editor. Formats listed as available are Product Management, Data Structures and Algorithms, System Design, Behavioral and Finance; SQL, Data Science and ML, and Frontend are in beta.
AI mock interviews and the Ace coach
This is what people mean by "exponent ai mock interview". On Aced Practice, you can answer real questions without a partner, and an AI grades the transcript against hiring rubrics with a score per attribute and suggestions. Aced says AI feedback and transcripts need a paid membership and are in early access. The Expert plan adds this layer plus the Ace coach, according to the rebrand post and the third-party pricing guide.
Note what this is: AI grading of an answer or transcript. It is not the same as a live AI interviewer that runs your code and asks follow-ups on what happened. Aced's pages do not describe code execution for AI practice.
Coaching
Aced's coaching page describes "a team of senior tech coaches" with 60-minute sessions, plus career coaching, negotiation, communication and resume services. Coaches are "hand-picked and vetted by Aced." Your purchase "isn't tied to a single coach," 24 hours' notice is needed to reschedule, and unused sessions never expire and are refundable within six months of purchase. The page does not show per-session prices.
Exponent (Aced) pricing
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic (free) | $0, no card | Sample lessons only, 5 peer mocks a month, limited question database, basic job referrals. No solutions, company guides, interview experiences, Discord or AI features. |
| Pro | $79/month or $149/year | Membership tier below Expert; the sources say it does not include the AI features. |
| Expert | $99/month or $249/year | Pro plus AI mock interviews, AI feedback and the Ace coach. |
| Coaching (separate) | 1 session $249; 3-pack $675; 5-pack $999 | 60-minute sessions with a coach. |
Sources: PracHub, "Exponent pricing", as of 14 October 2026; Aced coaching for session format and refund terms. We could not verify these figures on aced.io itself, because its pricing page did not render plan details when fetched. Older articles still quote earlier prices, so check aced.io before you pay.
Two points on billing from the same sources: memberships auto-renew until you cancel, and full membership refunds are offered within 5 days of purchase. It is unclear from those sources whether the 5-day window applies to annual or Expert plans. Set a reminder if you take a monthly plan, because the one 1-star Trustpilot review is about an unnoticed renewal.
What users praise
Public review evidence for Exponent is thin and mixed, so weigh it accordingly.
- Peer mocks. On Trustpilot, reviewers call the peer mock platform great and say they met supportive people. Others praise the study plans, curriculum and coaching sessions, and a few credit it with offers at companies including Meta and Google. Trustpilot shows 4.2 out of 5, but from only 9 reviews, none in the last 12 months, so it is not a representative sample.
- Role breadth. A PracHub review (written by a competitor) says the product is strongest on mock interviews, particularly coached ones, multi-role coverage and company-specific prep.
- Free resources are useful. A summary of Reddit and Blind comments in search results says that quite a few people used only the free resources and did fine. We could not open the original threads, so treat that as secondhand.
What users complain about
- Price versus free alternatives. One review we found calls roughly $144 for guides and videos too high when free material is plentiful, per a search summary of a third-party review. A 2025 review cited in search results suggests LeetCode may be enough if you are focused purely on coding.
- Thin DSA coverage. PracHub's competitor review says DSA coverage is thin, courses can be passive unless you practise actively, coaching is expensive and the content plateaus for senior candidates. That is one competitor's opinion, not user data.
- Billing. The single 1-star Trustpilot review says a subscription renewed after the user forgot to cancel, with no support response. Another reviewer says site navigation could be better and some questions need more detail.
- Review volume. Course Report lists zero published reviews for Exponent, so independent outcome data is limited. We also could not reach several Reddit and Blind threads directly; the sentiment above is limited to pages we could open or summaries we could attribute.
Is Exponent (Aced) worth it?
It depends on the role and on how much you will actually use the human mocks.
It is a good fit if:
- You are interviewing for product management, TPM, data science or another non-coding role, where a question bank, frameworks and peer practice are the main need.
- You want free human peer mocks. The free tier alone may cover this.
- You want a single place for courses, question banks and coaching, and you will use enough of it to justify a membership.
- You want a paid coach and will pay $249 a session (per third-party listing) for a senior interviewer's feedback.
Think twice if:
- Your main gap is coding or DSA. A competitor's review calls DSA coverage thin, and Aced does not describe an AI interviewer that runs your code. Thita does exactly that; see below.
- You mostly need volume. Peer mocks depend on a matched partner and a schedule.
- You are senior and want deep system design. See best system design interview prep platforms and our comparison of the best system design courses.
- You dislike auto-renewing subscriptions. Use monthly billing carefully.

What Thita offers for AI mock interviews
Thita's AI mock interview is built for software engineers, and it does the thing Aced's AI practice does not describe: it runs your code.
- Your code is executed, not just read. Solutions are compiled and run against real hidden test cases in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go and C# during a voice interview. The interviewer then asks follow-ups on what actually happened: the failing case, the complexity, the edge you missed. Most AI interview tools only grade what you say.
- A voice interviewer with adaptive follow-ups. You talk through the problem as you would in a real loop, and the questions change with your answers.
- System design on a whiteboard the AI reads. Draw your architecture and the interviewer reacts to the diagram, not just your description.
- Every round in one product. Coding/DSA, system design, low-level design, behavioural, resume-based rounds and company-style interview loops.
- A scored report that names the one thing to fix next. Every session ends with it.
- Learn, practise and get tested in one place. Learning paths cover DSA patterns (99 patterns in 16 families), system design (73 lessons, 26 case studies) and low-level design (46 lessons), plus Forward Deployed Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, OS, DBMS, Networks and Math. There are 410 DSA problems and 850+ in total with an in-browser runner, and 90-day roadmaps.
- Sheets and company prep. NeetCode 150, NeetCode 250, Blind 75, system design, LLD and behavioural sheets, and a company-wise kit covering 160 companies with 111 kits.
- An AI Coach anchored to your code. The AI Coach comments on each line while you learn and practise.
- Try it free in about 10 minutes. The 3-question mock needs no sign-up: one executed coding problem, one behavioural, one system design. The free resume analyzer is also open.
Thita is used by 30,000+ engineers, and 81,000+ code submissions have been run on the platform (a count of code submissions, not interviews).
Best for: engineers who want high-volume, realistic reps on coding, system design and LLD. Pair it with one paid human mock if you want a FAANG engineer's read before the real loop.

How to decide in ten minutes
- Non-coding role (PM, TPM, DS): try Aced's free tier first. Use the peer mocks for a couple of weeks before paying.
- Coding or system design role: start with Thita's free 3-question AI mock interview, then use Pro ($75/year) or Lifetime ($69) for volume. Add a free peer mock, and one paid human mock from interviewing.io or IGotAnOffer shortly before the real loop.
- Need accountability and a curriculum: a cohort programme such as Interview Kickstart is the closest fit, but prices are not published, so ask on the webinar before comparing.
- Whatever you choose: put the renewal date in your calendar and check the refund window on the day you buy.
Frequently asked questions (checked October 2026)
Is Exponent still around? Yes, under a new name. Exponent is now Aced, and tryexponent.com redirects to aced.io. Aced is also the parent of Pramp and Interview Cake, per the rebrand post.
Is Exponent worth it? It is best for product management and non-coding interviews, where its questions, frameworks and peer mocks fit. For pure coding prep, reviewers we found say free resources and LeetCode may be enough, and one competitor review calls DSA coverage thin. Try the free tier before paying.
Is Exponent legit? Yes, it is a real company that owns Pramp and Interview Cake, per its own rebrand and acquisition posts. Public independent reviews are few: Trustpilot shows 4.2 from 9 reviews with none in the last year, and Course Report has none. Read the refund terms before you buy.
How much does Exponent cost? Per a third-party guide dated 14 October 2026: free Basic plan; Pro $79/month or $149/year; Expert $99/month or $249/year; coaching $249 for one session, with 3-packs and 5-packs. We could not confirm these on aced.io, so check the live page.
Does Exponent have AI mock interviews? Yes, on paid plans. Aced's AI grades practice answers and transcripts against hiring rubrics, and the Expert plan adds the Ace coach. Aced describes this as early access. It does not describe an AI that runs your code.
What does Reddit say about Exponent? We could not open the original Reddit threads. A review site that cites Reddit and Blind says experiences vary and that many people used only the free resources. Search r/cscareerquestions or r/leetcode directly and note the date of each comment, since the product has changed.
What are the best Exponent alternatives? For software engineers, Thita.ai (AI interviewer that runs your code, Pro $75/year, Lifetime $69) is the strongest value. Others: Pramp (free peer mocks, now inside Aced), interviewing.io (paid human mocks), Hello Interview (system design and structured learning), IGotAnOffer (coaching) and Interview Kickstart (cohorts).
The short version
Aced, formerly Exponent, remains a reasonable all-in-one choice for product management and other non-coding roles, and its free peer mocks cost nothing to try. For software engineers, Thita's AI mock interview runs your code in 6 languages during a voice round, reads your system design whiteboard, and costs $75 a year or $69 once, against $149 to $249 a year for Aced's memberships. Try the free 3-question mock, and add a human coach only when you want a senior engineer's judgement before a real loop.
