Interviewing.io Review (2026): Pricing, Who It's For and Cheaper Alternatives
interviewing.io mocks start at $179 a session. What you get, user complaints, who should pay, and a $75-a-year alternative with 15 AI interviews a month.

interviewing.io sells anonymous mock interviews with senior engineers, and its own FAQ says "Interviews start at $179", with the price rising for specific subjects and for a specific company's interviewer. It also has a free AI interviewer. The human sessions pay off late in prep, for a specific target. For the volume work before that, one session costs more than a year of Thita Pro ($75), which includes 15 AI interviews a month.
Thita.ai makes an AI mock interview product, so we're a competitor; every price and claim below links to its source, checked in October 2026.
Interviewing.io at a glance (checked October 2026)
| Question | Short answer |
|---|---|
| How much does a session cost? | "Interviews start at $179, but the price varies depending on the subject matter" and on whether you want a specific company's interviewer. A full per-session price list is not published on the FAQ. |
| Is interviewing.io free? | The AI Interviewer is free. Human interviews are not. |
| Who interviews you? | Senior, Staff or Principal engineers and engineering managers, per the homepage. |
| Is it anonymous? | Yes. Sessions are audio and chat with no video, and the interviewer "will not have access to any of your info". You can choose to unmask afterwards. |
| Company-specific mocks? | Yes, you can request an interviewer from a given company. It changes the price. |
| Refund? | The FAQ says "If you're unhappy with your interview(s), we'll issue a full refund." |
| Discount code? | The FAQ does not mention promo codes or student pricing. Third-party reviews say coaching sales appear periodically. |

What interviewing.io is and what you get
interviewing.io started as a platform for anonymous practice interviews with engineers from large tech companies. Today the homepage lists these mock interview types: algorithms and data structures, coding, system design, machine learning (algorithms and system design), front-end engineering, engineering management, behavioural, and staff-level and manager practice interviews. The FAQ describes the core focus as "CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and systems design", aimed at backend and full-stack roles.
There are three things to separate.
1. Live mock interviews. Sessions are "virtual, fully anonymous" with voice and chat but no video. Each ends with an in-depth written rundown of your strengths and weak spots. Interviewers are described as engineers and managers who make hiring decisions, and the site shows logos from Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Stripe, Uber, Airbnb and others. You can also pick an interviewer from a particular company, and the FAQ says that affects the price.
2. Coaching packages. The homepage lists Amazon, Google and Meta coaching as 3, 5 or 10 one-on-one sessions with a mentor from the target company and a customised lesson plan. The homepage and FAQ do not publish package prices, so the numbers in the next section come from third parties.
3. The AI Interviewer. The FAQ says it is free, "simulates a FAANG-style interview, and it can do both coding and system design." The homepage adds that you can work through over 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview for free. This is a real free product, not a trial of the paid one.
Interviewing.io pricing
Confirmed by interviewing.io: human mock interviews start at $179; the price varies by subject and by company-specific interviewer; the AI interviewer is free; there is a full refund if you are unhappy with an interview.
Not published by interviewing.io (on the pages we could read): a price list by company or seniority, and coaching package prices. A third-party review from Lodely, which sells a competing product, gives these approximate figures and does not say how it collected them, so treat them as estimates:
| Item | Lodely's estimate |
|---|---|
| Individual expert session | "start at around $225" |
| Company-branded interviewer | "closer to $339" |
| Behavioural session | "around $115-$230" |
| 3-session coaching package | "roughly $1,500-$2,000" |
| 5-session coaching package | "around $2,000-$2,500" |
| 10-session coaching package | "originally priced at $4,000", with periodic $200-$700 discounts |
Sources: interviewing.io/faq for the $179 floor; Lodely's interviewing.io pricing breakdown for the estimates. The gap between $179 and $225 is a reminder that the cheapest session is not the one most people book.
Pay Later. Lodely also describes a "Pay Later" program where you defer payment until you are hired, open to people authorised to work in the US, Canada, UK or Australia. A Blind commenter mentions deferring charges of up to about $1,024. We could not find the program on the FAQ page, so read the terms on interviewing.io before relying on it.
Is there an interviewing.io discount code? We are not going to list codes, because we could not verify any from the vendor. The FAQ does not mention promo codes or student pricing. Lodely reports that discounts of $200-$700 on 10-session packages appear periodically. The practical routes are to check the pricing and coaching pages directly, watch for sales, and use a free or low-cost AI interviewer first.
What users praise
Sentiment below comes from a Blind thread asking what people think of interviewing.io, a second Blind thread on paid mocks, and review roundups. We did not find many direct Reddit threads, so we are not summarising r/leetcode beyond saying you should search it yourself for recent experiences.
- Worth it if you have no one to practise with. One Blind commenter calls it worth it if you do not know anyone who can give free feedback, and another says it is worth the cost if nobody in your network is at or above your level.
- System design sessions. A commenter who used the paid system design interviews four times found them useful for someone with no prior system design interview experience, and for judging readiness.
- Communication gaps. One commenter notes that many people who grind LeetCode overestimate how well they communicate under interview conditions.
- Legitimacy. Review roundups generally treat it as a legitimate service. Several of those roundups are written by competitors or affiliates, so we weigh them lightly.
What users complain about
- Price. This is the dominant complaint. Blind commenters call it "really expensive" and "ungodly expensive". One estimates about $1k in total spend, though they argue the spend can pay back in compensation. Another suggests IGotAnOffer, Prepfully or Exponent as cheaper options, while noting Exponent is not much cheaper.
- Interviewer variance. One Blind commenter says interviewer quality ranges from poor to average and that the sessions are generally not worth it. Another says the only part that was valuable for them was system design.
- Hard to know what you will get. Because price depends on the interviewer and company, and the full price list is not on the site, some reviewers say it is hard to budget before you log in.
Both sides are in the threads. The consistent pattern is that people who say it was worth it were close to a real interview and had a specific gap to close, and people who say it was not were paying for general practice they could have got more cheaply.
Is interviewing.io worth it?
It is worth paying for in a narrow window.
It is worth it if:
- You already solve problems reliably and have a real loop coming in the next few weeks.
- You want a judgement from someone who has sat on a hiring committee: an anonymous senior engineer from a top company can say whether your answer would have cleared the bar at their company and why.
- You are interviewing for a senior, staff or management role, where rounds are open-ended and the signal is judgement.
- You want a company-specific read (the price goes up for this, so book it late).
You can skip it, or at least wait, if:
- You are still learning patterns. A $179+ session spent on gaps you could close for a few dollars of AI practice is poor value.
- You are a student or early in your search with a tight budget. Use the free AI interviewer, free peer mocks and the cheaper options below first.
- Your target roles are mostly front-end heavy or product roles that need prep outside its core backend focus (it does list front-end and behavioural sessions, so check availability for your round).
A reasonable plan is to do volume practice cheaply and save one or two human sessions for the final stretch.
What Thita offers: affordable, on-demand mock interviews
If the objection to interviewing.io is the price per session, this is the other end of the scale. Thita's AI mock interview is on demand, any hour, with no scheduling and no per-session fee.
- It runs your code during the interview. Your code is compiled and run against real test cases in Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, Go and C#, and the voice interviewer asks follow-ups on what actually happened. Most AI interview tools only grade what you say.
- Adaptive voice interviewer. Follow-up questions adjust to your answers, the way a real interviewer's do.
- Every round in one product. Coding and DSA, system design on a whiteboard the AI reads, low-level design, behavioural and resume-based rounds, plus company-style interview loops.
- Company-wise kits. 160 companies with interview data and 111 company kits, so practice follows the round mix of your target employer.
- A scored report every time. Each session ends with a report that names the one thing to fix next.
- Learn, practise and get tested together. DSA patterns (99 patterns in 16 families), system design (73 lessons, 26 case studies), low-level design (46 lessons), the NeetCode 150 sheet, 410 DSA problems and 850+ problems in total with an in-browser runner, and both 90-day roadmaps.
- Try it first. A free 3-question mock, no sign-up, takes about 10 minutes. More than 30,000 engineers use Thita, and 81,000+ code submissions have been run on the platform.
Cost comparison
Thita figures from thita.ai/pricing; interviewing.io from its FAQ; the coaching estimate from Lodely above.
| Price | What it buys | |
|---|---|---|
| interviewing.io, one human session | $179+ | One mock interview |
| Thita Pro, one year | $75 | 15 AI interviews a month, core learning paths plus any 2 more, both 90-day roadmaps |
| Thita Pro, monthly | $14.99 a month | 15 AI interviews, about $1 per interview |
| Thita Elite | $29.99 a month or $120 a year | 30 AI interviews a month, all 11 learning paths |
| Thita Lifetime | $69 once | All 11 learning paths, pattern sheets, both roadmaps, 32 AI credits for mocks or coach sessions |
| interviewing.io 10-session package | "originally priced at $4,000" (Lodely) | Ten coached sessions |
A year of Thita Pro at $75 is under half the cost of a single $179 session, and about 1.9% of that 10-session package. Thita also has a free Starter plan: 2 AI interviews in the first week, then 1 a month, plus the DSA Fundamentals, Data Science and AI/ML learning paths.
Best for: unlimited-feeling AI reps across coding, design and behavioural rounds. Pair it with one paid human mock in the final two weeks if you want a senior engineer's read on a specific company.
Interviewing.io vs Pramp
The two are often compared because both are "mock interviews", but they are different products.
| interviewing.io | Pramp (now on Aced Practice) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who interviews you | Experienced engineers, anonymous | Another candidate, then you swap |
| Price | Human sessions from $179; AI interviewer free | Free monthly credits; paid membership for more and for AI feedback |
| Format | Voice and chat, no video | Live video with a shared editor |
| Best for | Calibrated feedback from a senior | Free, frequent human practice |
Sources: interviewing.io/faq, Aced Practice. Pramp's peer mocks are free on a monthly credit allowance, and Aced says AI feedback and transcripts need a paid membership. See our deeper write-up: Pramp in 2026 and an AI interviewer that runs your code, and Thita vs Pramp.
The short version: a Pramp peer costs nothing but quality varies with who you are paired with. interviewing.io costs real money and is more consistent and more senior.

Older pages listed human mocks; the current page we read describes AI-run Live Practice, so confirm before assuming human sessions |
| IGotAnOffer | No fixed price. Sells credits; coach listings show 1-hour sessions at 2-5 credits, and one 2026 review puts a credit near $50, which would be roughly $100-$250 a session | Human coaches, many ex-FAANG | Human mocks at a range of prices, per IGotAnOffer's coach listings and PracHub's review |
| Interview Kickstart | Not published. Third-party listings on SwitchUp show roughly $4,900-$9,600 per track | Multi-week live course with mock interviews | Structured long-form programme, not drop-in mocks |
Sources: each vendor's page linked above; Thita figures from thita.ai/pricing. Against Interview Kickstart's lowest listed track, Thita Pro at $75 a year is about 1.5% of the cost. A sensible way to spend a budget
- Weeks 1 to 4: learn patterns and do frequent, cheap or free reps. The free Starter plan of Thita's AI mock interview, or interviewing.io's own free AI interviewer, work here, alongside free peer mocks.
- Weeks 5 to 6: move to full-length mocks, out loud, with code actually run. At 15 interviews a month on Pro, you can repeat rounds until the same two or three issues stop appearing.
- Last two weeks before the loop: book one or two human sessions with a senior engineer, ideally from your target company, at interviewing.io or a cheaper human option such as IGotAnOffer. That is where the $179+ earns its keep.
Frequently asked questions
How much does interviewing.io cost (2026)? Interviewing.io's FAQ says interviews start at $179 and the price varies with the subject and with a company-specific interviewer. Third-party estimates put typical sessions higher (around $225, and about $339 for a branded interviewer) and coaching packages in the low thousands. Those figures are not confirmed by the vendor.
Is interviewing.io free? The AI Interviewer is free and includes over 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview. Human mock interviews are paid.
Is interviewing.io worth it? What does Reddit say? Commenters on Blind say it is worth it if you have nobody to practise with or you need system design practice, and many say it is expensive. We found few direct Reddit threads, so search r/leetcode and r/cscareerquestions for recent ones. Overall it tends to be judged worth it for people who are near a real interview and not for general practice.
Is there an interviewing.io discount code? We cannot verify any code, so we do not list one. The FAQ does not mention promo codes or student pricing. Check the site's pricing and coaching pages, and note that third-party reviews report occasional coaching package discounts.
Is interviewing.io anonymous? Yes. Sessions are audio and chat with no video, and your interviewer does not get your information. You can choose to unmask afterwards.
What are the best interviewing.io alternatives? For affordable, on-demand mocks with executed code, Thita's AI mock interview: Pro is $75 a year for 15 AI interviews a month. For human sessions at lower prices, IGotAnOffer and Prepfully coaches are commonly cited. For free peer mocks, Pramp on Aced Practice. For a long structured course, Interview Kickstart, at a much higher price.
Interviewing.io vs Pramp: which is better? They solve different problems. Pramp is free peer practice with variable quality. interviewing.io is paid practice with experienced interviewers and a consistent standard.
Bottom line
interviewing.io is a legitimate, premium tool with one thing that is hard to replicate: anonymous, calibrated feedback from engineers who run real hiring loops. Pay for it when you are close to ready and have a specific bar to test. Before that, spend your money on volume: one $179 session costs more than a year of Thita Pro, which gives you 15 AI interviews a month with your code compiled and run. Start with the free 3-question AI mock interview, then book a human session for the final stretch.
